To have Professor Trout visit your school the school would agree to sell his novels for $15.95, the retail price, that they could purchase from Pelican Publishing Company for a 40% discount which is about $6.00 per book savings. The profit from the book sales could then be used to meet Professor Trout’s fee of $400 per visit for a whole day or roughly 3-4 presentations. At a recent book fair in Oklahoma City, over 40 novels were sold to students, parents, and teachers. That meant that the school would have nearly $250 to apply toward the author visit fee and would be out only $150, a real bargain during these days of tight budgets. If an overnight stay is required there will be other costs to consider.
